Another question I have is regarding the cost vs value:
How many of you have more cost you put into your car than what its worth? (realistically, meaning what you could sell it for vs. what the time and money you have spent on it))

I certainly do but it's my hobby. I knew going in that I was going to use the car as a year round daily driver and that's just what I've done. But this car is almost 18 years old. If you're going to put 10 - 15k miles on the car each year it needs a lot of maintenance and while I can do some things myself I am not a mechanic.

As an accountant however I can tell you that a C4 is not something that you buy as an investment. You are not going to get the $$ out of it that you put into it. What you get is pleasure from driving it the way it was meant to be driven and these cars LIKE to be driven. One of the reasons that my car drives great is because I drive it all the time. Let it sit in your garage and it gets old and cranky

PS: if you have the $12K to buy a 95 or 96 low mileage car (<40K) in really nice condition I would go that route as it's a lot less frustrating than spending the same money to get yours into really nice condition. This is my opion however and it only worth what you paid for it.

With your car, at least you know what you have. You can buy a nice car for $6k - $10k, but, in a year or so, as you get to know the new ride, you still might need to put another $2k-$3k into it to keep it nice. And after that, the car will still be worth what you originally paid for it. All in all, it depends on what you want out of the car and how quick you want/need to get it there.
