Have 95 Vette with factory PKE. Caught in torrential downpour, driving through water up to the door - and the PKE dash light came on. Stayed on for awhile, then went out and when I got out, my PKE would not work. Open the door with my key - and the alarm goes off. My manual, which would probably tell me how it fix, is at home and I thought maybe one of the forum members knows what happened and how to fix. Ideas??
Hatch button in console works but hatch button on both controllers are inop (as are all controller buttons). Have not checked the fuse - without my manual, did not know what to check or where. Assumed that there was a PKE fuse from some other forum posts I saw, but did not know if it was located with the other fuses or was separate. Vector me in - where is the fuse and I will check.

Hold the door lock button down it should recycle and hopefully reset
Since you drove through fairly deep water I would say it is related to the car and not the fobs. the FSM for my 96 says fuses 26, 40 and 42 hope that helps.
If you have eliminated the fobs (Checked the batteries). Try to reset the PKE system
1. Move all transmitters(fobs) out of range.
2. Turn the ignition key on.
3. Push TRIP ODO on the Driver Information Center twice.
4. Within five seconds, press and hold FUEL INFO until the PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light comes on.
5. Turn the ignition off, but leave the key in the ignition. The PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light should begin to flash to show the system is in programming mode.
6. Bring one transmitter into range. The light will stop flashing and stay on to show that the code is stored.
7. Move the transmitter out of range. The light should start flashing again.
8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 with each additional fob
The programming mode will shut off if
You don’t program any transmitters for two minutes.
You take the key out of the ignition or turn the ignition on.
You have programmed three transmitters.
I just got a new PKE Fob about an hour ago from Bree for my newly acquired 95. I couldn't initially get it to work, but after doing these steps it works perfectly:
1.Reset by pulling the cars PKE fuse (5 amp fuse located with all the other fuses on end of Passengers side dash, last column of fuses toward back of car, 4th from the bottom). Inside the fuse cover is a diagram that shows the fuse locations.
2.Cycle the ignition on (without starting) then off
3.Remove the key
4.Reinstall the fuse
5.Re-insert the key and go thru the reprogramming steps that Goldcylon posted above.

Not good news so far. Followed instructions on removing/reinstalling PKE fuse and then cycling through Goldcylon instructions. Passive Keyless indicator light came on...but did not flash. Any other ideas at this point??
The good news is that if I manually lock the doors (not electronically), I can reopen with key and the alarm doesn't go off.
As the saying goes, "Time heals all things...including PKE". Not sure if everything just dried out, or if all of the things fellow forum-ers recommended worked, but my PKE is up and well. Once again, thanks for the info!!
