First off, its been a looong while since my last post. But I had to blog a couple of observations.
I have one of those work in progress...if I can just get that to work right cars. Garaged for the last 9 months, its waiting on me to fix coolant temperature monitoring and therefor fan issues.
I finally dropped my manual switch and installed an automatic radiator probe fan switches. And proceeded with the obligatory drive wash wax drive push start (dead battery) wax drive park routines.
A lady that remembers pearl harbor walks up to me to talk about my hot rod. She's 90+ and talking about my car as a fond memory. We talked breifly about her studebaker with overdrive after learning I put a six speed in.
Observation: I've owned the car for 13 years AND its 23 years-old
Observation: The chasis is tired, grip was loose, steering sloopy...23 year old car.
Observation: My 23 year old car still looks better than most (if not all) 5 year old cars. Faster to
Observation: One of the following is true at 4000 RPMs...either; not enough gap between the pressure plate and hyd throwout bearing, bad timing/advance under 100% throttle, I still DO NOT have enough clutch with 3000# PP and 6-puck sintered iron clutch.

Glad you're getting some appreciation, and I agree. People don't realize these are old cars (because they don't look it). And people also have no idea of price - my wife was just saying last night some folks equate "Corvette" with "rich". I was talking to a neighbor a while back who said he loved the Vette, but could not afford one. When I told him he could be on a decent C-4 for well under 10k, he was amazed.
But we can keep that part our little secret - let them think what they will!

Of course the final observation...every drive motivates to spend at least $200.
