As some of you know I have been trying to track down an annoying rattle in the back of my 1990 when the targa is off, well I finally tracked it down to the rear hatch! I put some black electrical tape around the bottom part of the latch a couple of times, and what do you know, NO MORE RATTLES!
Try a rubber vaccum nipple on the rear glass striker. It will last longer than the tape. You can get an assortment in the "Help" section at most part stores. GC
I've got an annoying rattle coming from the back of the car somewhere that happens even with my targa top on. It sounds metallic like some sort of bolt is loose.
What part exactly are you talking about that you taped? Maybe that is what is happening with mine. Mine only rattles at certain RPMs kind of like they are making the car shake more.

Thanks
The rear metal striker off the rear window that enters the rear package tray and depresses the hatch release button.
