We have set this project aside based on minimal interest. We are doing well with the fixed system. We are also working on a c4 frame brace, a HID headlamp meeting or exceeding DOT standards, a c5 fixed headlight system and c4 taillights that won't break the bank.
The first tail lights will probably be a symmetrical design for 91-96. I considered LED but I think they look a little cheap, especially when 1 or more LEDs burn out. I will work on a rounded pattern for the reflectors. Average set price is $300, so I will work toward $150.
Would a significant number of people really spend this much money on headlights -- especially for the price C4's are selling for?
I wouldn't. Of course, I don't have an issue overdriving headlights at night anyway.
Heck....technically, I'm a grandpa!
I upgraded mine to LED H6054 from JW Speaker. I hardly drive fast enough to outrun my stock headlights, but it was getting really unsafe on drives to the Florida Keys or through Alligator Alley, where there aren't lights on the road. It was more of a safety issue than a driving fast issue, with even alligators crossing the road ( racoons and other wild life are very common too, as well as people in bikes with no lights, etc)
I think it made the whole driving experience more enjoyable and relaxed, and that is really what I wanted the Vette for.
I am researching requirements for the c4 tail lights. What I am finding is that most of the LED and Halo tail lights on the market are illegal. C4 tail lights have built in reflectors which are DOT required for safety and most aftermarket versions don't have reflectors. I think I can design a better reflex design with today's technology.
Thanks,
Brandon
