I have a 91 and has been at the local chevy garage for the past 4 weeks. I took it in because it had a intermitten miss and the check engine light would come on. They checked out what they could and they seem to think it is the EPROM (AXCP) the original computer was replaced at sometime I do not know why. They added a eprom from Hypertech. The car seemed to actually run better but after several day the miss was back and the check engine light came back on. The codes that were coming up were 42 and 43. The eprom from hyertech was a piggyback type. So they think the problem is in the original eprom. They thought Jet made a complete eprom that would not piggy back on the original one. They ordered it and it came in as a piggyback type. Does anyone make a complete replaceble eprom to elminate the original?
Get the 91 out of the Chevy dealer and take it to a Corvette specialty shop. Codes 42 and 43 are Electronic Spark Timing and Electronic SparK Control. If you do not know a good shop in your area get on the regional forum and ask who is good.
Someone local to you might have a Factory Service Manual or FSM for short. That and a few basic diagnostic tools and you can fix it yourself. Or have a car knowledge friend help.
