Is there any way to check if this part is bad? I am trying to get my 84 back on the road. It has been sitting for a few years. I have it started and running. I have replaced the brake booster, MC, rotors, pads and flushed system. The brakes are solid. The dash Brake Warning light is on. The Warning switch is the original I moved from the old MC to the new. With switch removed the MC looks good. No brake fluid leaking from the switch. Valve in MC seems to be lined up. Just seems so expensive for a small part with a spring in it and difficult to locate.
Thanks,
John
The white brake warning switch on the master cylinder indicates if there is a brake pressure imbalance between the front and rear brakes.
If there is an imbalance the white spring loaded switch will contact the metal recess of the combination piston which is spring loaded so will stay in the failed position, i think you will need to bleed the front and rear brakes with it removed and refit when the bleeding is finished. Not 100% sure on this. Maybe removing the warning switch after bleeding the brakes will work.
The white brake warning switch is fairly in expensive was only a few dollars i think when i broke mine a year or so ago.

The dash Brake Warning light is on.
With the switch removed from the M/c and connected can you make the light change by moving the plunger?
If not; switch is faulty.
If light goes off and on then brake system need rebalancing ,
You should be able to check the switch for continuity with an ohm meter. It completes the circuit to the dash light when the switch is grounded to the MC.
Question for ya.....I have an 84......how do you feel about the stopping power on your 84??? Is it good ro marginal like mine??? Can you lock up teh brakes if you want to???
