dash flashing "SYS"
#1-For the DVD bypass I used a Momentary Pushbutton Switch, Normally Closed, rated 0.5A at 125VAC, 0.3A at 50VDC. The part number is 275-1548 at Radio Shack. That was for a pack of four.
Run that green wire(thats supposed to go to the e-brake) to one side, and then run a wire from the other side to a grounded connection... I actually ran this wire to a bolt on the e-brake! Turn it on, push the button, and it should work. Let me know if you have problems.

so its the green wire or the orange wire..cause i was told the orange wire..for the avh-p4000dvd

Exactly. Try grounding the green wire first - I tried it, and it didnt work, because like I said, the push button switch helps to replicate the pushing on and off of the e-brake - but on an old JVC in dash DVD unit I used to have, I just grounded it and it worked perfectly.
If that doesnt work, try getting that momentary push button switch, run that green wire to one of the posts on the switch, run a wire from the other post to the vehicle ground. That should make it work.

#2- Re: "SYS" warning light after aftermarket HU install (kmath)
This is a copy of Marco Polo's previous post:
1. Buy (2) 1 kilo-ohm 1/2 Watt resistors.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the receiver.
4. Connect one end of both resistors to ignition power. (Yellow wire in the car.)
5. Connect the other end of one resistor to the purple/white wire in the car.
6. Connect the other end of the second resistor to the grey/black wire in the car.
7. Cover all connections and completely cover the resistors.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
No more SYS error!
Good Luck
Doug

Thanks,

I have no idea what happened to them.
At one time the link above pointed to a GM service bulletin explaining an issue with a flashing SYS after installing an aftermarket stereo on some cars.
That link no longer works.
Thanks for the quick responses. I'm tired of the SYS issue, and will start with the resistor fix, I'm just looking for as much detail and explanation as I can get before I start the surgery (and avoiding as much upside down over the door hump time as possible - quick in and out).
Thanks,
Clay
