Default cluster problem '86 vette

I recently purchased a '86 corvette conv. I will post pictures as soon as i figure out how to post them.
Problem. The cluster is dim during the day and black at night. Also, the cruise control is not working. Could there be a problem affecting both?
Any suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks in advance.

Just a thought if all guages are displaying correct readings the backlight bulbs might be bad.do turn signals light up when lever switched and does high beam indicator light when you switch it.if they do id think bulbs.if you take a flashlight and shine it on your instraments in top left corner (there is a photo cell that adjusts brightness of cluster so you can see during day) shine it there does it do anything.ive had bulbs burn out and dash goes dim but guages work thats my guess.

Yes the turn signals andlights light up. The flash light on sensor did not do asnything. As daylightgoes away so does display. Think it is the bulbs? Are they hard to change?
Thanks

It was easy to get bulbs out. They ere all bad. Now I cannot find replacements. NAPA said they would order for me at $7.98 each. Are there any subistites for the 882 halogen? Also could not find 7073 Stanley bulb anywhere.
Any suggestions? Maybe NAPA is a good price?

Thanks

Ive seen people here ask that before but i dont know the answer look in the help area you might find it there.i checked prices on ebay and think it was about the same.i paid to have mine fixed till my friend passed away.now i have to figure stuff out myself.my cluster went bad from water leak i tore everything apart and resoldered cluster boards its partially fixed.thats hiw i figured out how go change bulbs.whatever you get be sure not to touch bulbs with bare fingers the oil on your fingers will cause premature failure if you do touch wipe as clean as possible. If i find anything on type of replacements ill let you know.
