Door leak
The last couple times I parked my 85 in the rain, the right door carpet under the speaker and the speaker were wet. Not good for speaker!
The door seals are only a few yrs old and in good shape.
Seems to be wet (from what I can see without taking panel off) between the steel and the carpet around the speaker
Tried to find it last weekend by spraying everything really good and no leak.
Any ideas?
Usually water can leak in at the A pillar and targa weatherstrip join, also if the door/window is not adjusted correctly water can drip down the A piilar weatherstrip where the window seals on it.
A small smear of rubber grease on the A pillar weatherstrip where the targa side weatherstrip sits on will prevent further leaks if the weatherstrips are hardened or the A pillar weatherstrip drain is blocked.
You will need someone spraying water on the car to simulate rain as direst water pressure does not show up all the leaks sometimes.
Check the side windows go all the way up and press on the seal, sometimes a worn regulator can result in the front of the side glass to be slightly lower. check window sliding up on both sides
You can also put some dishwashing detergent around the weatherstrip and window joins, then run the fan drawing outside air in and any leaks will show up with bubbles.
Good luck

Really raining hard in NY State today. I worked on the weatherstripping a bit over the weekend. A few swipes of silicone here and there where I thought it might be leaking.
Didn't do any good.
Got in the car and the speaker and carpet below it is soaked and drips sitting on top of the door sill.
Saw drips from edge of the dash pad where it curves dow.
Any ideas?
My 93 was leaking on passenger side. Water was dripping down the a-pillar and falling down between dash and door panel right on the speaker. Carpet was getting pretty wet when we got a heavy rain. This was still happening after replacing all of the weatherstrip.
I ended up doing some adjustments on the window, putting some dielectric grease on the weatherstrips. Still leaked. So I took the weatherstrip retainer on the a pillar off and cleaned it real good. Then I put a very large bead of silicone between the retainer and a-pillar and the leak went away.

basically this just made the window fit tighter?
How does it come off? Screws?
I was getting some wind noise on the passenger side so I mainly adjusted window to take care of wind noise, thinking that would be a source of the leak. To get the retainer off you need to take top off, pull weatherstrip out of retainer, be careful at the bottom of the weatherstrip as it may be glued. Once the weatherstrip is out of the retainer you will see the screws that fasten the retainer to the a-pillar.
I think the factory used some type of foam strips between the retainer and the a-pillar as I scraped off that type of stuff off of the retainer. Silicone seemed to work for me, but you may get some more replies from some of the others on this site.
