So I'm about 60-65% done. Trans is in looking good... only probably.. shifter. How is it mounted? I cut the hole but I don't see how it mounts. Any help?

Also what do I do about the plug that connects to the actual automatic shifter? Is there anything I have to do to the computer? Also. Does anyone have a picture of the manual shifter on?

You need to take the backup light wires through the floor to the backup switch on the trans
take the P/N wires to the clutch safety switch on clutch pedal
and make safe the org and black wires that told the computer if the trans was in gear or not

Shifter is mounted in a recess in the side of trans tunnel ; not to the trans as is normal
Do you have that section of tunnel glassed in as shown in bottom pic?

Wow. I like that, only thing is wouldnt the shifter rotate slightly when in use? From the looks it looks like the shift is only held on by the one bolt?

Also... I dont have the hose that goes from the back of the transmission to the top. Is that necessary? What is it?

Same as in stock mounting ;everything pivots around the bolt
You can see from previous pic up top there is only a thin metal brace on the outside to stop the shifter " leaning " over
If making a custom bracket you could easily fabricate something similar on the drv side of shifter ( a box around shifter ?)
if you wished to do so

Vent line
Could use any piece of hose run up high to achieve the same

This was just a mockup but it shows where the shifter is located in relation to the transmission .

I did something more like with the bracket that came originally and bolting it to the 4 corners of fiberglass on the tunnel. I don't like it. Ill get a picture of it up but I'm waiting for the actual section in the mail.

you will have to change the chip if you want the computer to turn on and off the overdrive.
You can add a manual switch if you prefer to turn on the trans yourself.
I put one in my 57, and I have an arm relay that works off the ignition switch, and an engage relay that works off the off/on switch powered through the arm relay......
You will also have to add a wire to the computer plug on A7 to the overdrive relay. it should be tan with a black tracer.
Then you will have to have a engage switch that goes to ground, then to the computer on C7.
There are other wires, like the vehicle speed sensor and another ground.

I was just going to run the switch. No computer. So im assuming I just run a wire with a charge to the switch and the switch to the od? That's correct?
