I'm thinking about buying a pair of C4 seats for my 91 Z28, how comfortable and supportive are they and are they a better quality than the C5 seats cause I know the C5 seats seem to wear quickly from what i've heard.
IMO, the quality of the C4 seats is better then the C5 seats. All those perforations in the C5 seats make it hard for the leather to hold up to abuse. Dont know which one is more comfortable but I love my C4 seats. I personally prefer the stock seats over the sport seats. I've been on quite a few long trips and these are the only seats that dont make me tired. My explorer always made my legs cramp up but these dont. Go for the 94-96 base seats. Best ones in my opinion.
It also depends on what size you are. I am 6'2 220 and I fit snug in the seats of my 1993. If your hefty then you might want to make sure you will fit and enjoy them. If I was a little larger in the butt I might have some trouble getting comfortable. If your bigger then me you might want to go with c5 seats because i found they give us larger guys a little more room.
Thanks for the replies guys, I'm 6 foot and about 160lb so i'll be alright. I saw a pair of 92 seats on ebay and I love the look of them they are new still wrapped in plastic. What's the differance between the 92 and the 94-96 seats cause the place that is auctioning them also has other years in stock that I might call about.
I love mine. The side bolsters do tend to kind of wear from getting in and out. The only thing I have noticed is that on long drives, 8 hours and up, I have to take my wallet out of my back pocket, because it kind of makes my one chhek numb.:) :bb
IMHO, I think that C5 seat are more comfortable then C4 seats. Although all of the C5's I have seen always seem to have worn seats, even at rather low mileage, probably goes to the fact that most people only drive thier vettes on short trips, thus there is alot of getting in and out, so thier is more wear on the seats. The later C4 seats are more comfortable then the earlier C4's though (later being 1994-96), they just have a little better of a shape to them, more supportive, hard to describe. Hopefully I have been of some sort of help.

'93 and older seats are narrower. If you're 6' 160# then you want the older seats. I'm 5'9" 175# and my '91's fit me real good. And get the sport seats, the side bolster squeeze is great for carving the twisties.
my 86's seats are perforated Leather, so they dont hold up too well and the drivers' is showing its age but the passengers isnt torn. The seat bolsters get worn from getting in and out. The C4 seats hold you in snug though, and i believe theyre good for racing. My friend with a 98 Camaro loves my seats.

Dude, I'm 6'1" and weigh 300 lbs. Ya, BIG GUY!!! My 89 leather seats are SOOOOO comfy, after a 400 km trip (~250 miles) the only time I get a slight bit of uncomfortable is when I get out of the car. Man, my seats are so comfy , I could live in it!!!
The 94-96 seats are great, if your gonna do it get them. The Ones before that are ok but not near as confortable IMO. The seats are part of the reason I love 94-96s the other being "Admiral Blue". Anyone figure out yet why I bought this car? hmmm :D :D

Re: How comfortable are C4 seats? (joecaver)
Having had 3 C4s and 2 C5s I have experienced both types of seats. The C4's wore very badly. Side bolsters, seating surfaces wore terribly. And, this was with me taking very good care of them and trying to be very careful when entering/exiting the car. On my '84 I had major fade with the Tan interior. The seats were a very big dissapointment. Comfort wise there is no comparison. The C5 sport seats are heads and shoulders above the C4 seats in comfort and adjustibility. No surprise here because basically the C5 is heads and shoulders above the C4 in every aspect of the car. No
flames, only reality.
Well, after driving a new Camaro convertible, I am curious if the seats would even fit!
The floor pan of a Camaro and Corvette are apples and oranges...Camaro has a very thin seat that sits on the floor....Corvette C4's are a few inches thicker...you don't sit on the floor in a Vette (I wish you could at 6'2").
So, I'd whip out the measuring tape if I were you....
I have a 92 camaro and let me tell ya, just about ANY seat is better than those!! I have the base seats in a 1995 corvette and they are a thousand times better. Ever since I got the vette I keep wanting to put vette seats in the camaro. I don't know about other C4's or C5's but mine are NICE!!!

PS- I am 6' tall' and 210 lbs.
The early C5 sport seats side bolster wore badly as well. I had my driver's seat cover replaced under warranty after less than 1 year. The new seats have vinyl instead of leather on the bolsters ('99 up I think) and that holds up much better. But I was left with one all leather and one leather vinyl seat and it never looked quite right.
Which seat is better really comes down to how wide is your butt? The '89-93 seats are great if yours is skinny, they really hold you in place. If you've got some spread going on, the later seats are progressively better. I personally slide all over the place in late C4 and C5 seats, they won't pinch down enough to grip me.
