Early cars have a different transmission tunnel due to the use of the 4+3 transmission in the manual cars vs the ZF6 in the '89 manual cars. Most likely the the panels will be close, but will need some massaging to get them to work regarding how they attach.
Here's a bump for you and perhaps someone will know conclusively. If that fails I'd pull the old ones off, take some pics with measurements and also pics showing the attach points. Then see if a vendor can do the same with the '89 panels you're considering buying.
