never seen `em on a vette. you could autozone a set but to be effective they would have to go almost all the way down to the ground. or drive on clean roads.
Check out my thread about splash guards. The last post are my splash guards on my 93. They work really well and after almost a month, there is absolutely NO dirt or grime behind the tires
Also, before someone gets on me for not washing a white Vette in almost a month of daily driving, it's been constantly raining just about every week this month. I plan on cleaning it up nice after Sandy passes.
The PO had Altecs on the rear so I got a set for the front and painted them. I like the look and it does help with cutting down on rock chips, then again I only drive 10 mph on the gravel road. I wasn't aware of any paint issues with the molded guards...guess I should pull a couple and see if there's any damage.

I you put a strip of clear vinyl on the body, under the splash guards, it should prevent that problem.
I don't know for how many years the splash guards were installed on my '91, but when I pulled them, there was not even primer left at the worst spots. So I think a strip of vinyl would delay the problem, but not prevent it.
