THANKS FOR YOUR HELP took my 84 vette for ride to day the digital dash temp gauge said 217 degree it was 37 degrees outside ,what is high temp on them? thanks
217 while in town or out on a freeway or highway??
217 in town is perfectly normal.
If that is highway temps, then you may have an issue. With air flowing across the radiator at 45mph+, you should see it drop so low that the thermostat closes.

Remove the radiator and clean the front of it. It will have a ton of crap on the front of it. Your temps aren't far out of normal, but at 37 degrees ambient it should run cooler. It's really that cold in San Bernadino?

I AGREE ! ! ! With sucha a low ambient temp, it should run more like 190, give or take a little. I MIGHT get up that high at a long red light, but not running down the road.
