hi
this is my first vette and am learning as i go. my question is how does the wiring work on these headlights. I tried doing a power test on the connector with three wires. one gray, one white, one green. gray is power when down but when the headlights on I get nothing. I wanna put a toggle switch on the headlights so i can choose when the motors are up or down but am unsure what wires do when. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure if I understand what you want to do.....If you want to have the headlights showing without them being on, no mods are needed.....Turn the headlites on as normal. then carefully push the switch back to parking lights only......the headlights will stay open but off. I usually drive with the parking lights on anyway for a bit of added safety.
currently the relays are bad and in one motor the off switch is worn out so it doesnt turn off. and they wont go up when the lights are on. it seams its not getting the power required from somewhere. I want to hard wire it to a dual purpose momentary switch so i dont have to rebuild or replace anything. I have what is required I believe but need to know what the wires do on each motor and how they work so i can do such. I am making a ratrod outta this car and so far is going well but this is one thing I have always wanted to do. thank you for your help
I feel like a heel...... i wanna make sure i got this right (confirming) grey is close power wire. Green is open power wire and white is ground. Its been years since i actually looked at a schemdix like this so i am just making sure i got it correct
grey is close power wire. Green is open power wire and white is ground.
That is how I read it ,
easily tested by grounding the white and applying batt power to the other 2 wires individually to check direction of travel.
Problem I see for you is you are going to want some big a*** switches in there to handle the current given the motors are powered direct off the batt.
Off course you could forget the whole rewire part and just use the manual opening ***** when you want the lights up ?
Currently they are always up and its a pain to get out open the hood and manually open or close them. The momentary switch i have is 80 for starting a car. Got it from a racing buddy.
