window scratches
I have these scratches on both my door windows. These vertical scratches are by the side view mirrors and are about 4 inches in length with the windows up. I pulled door panel off but could not see anything that could be scratching them. I've had this '96 CE now for 4 months and did not notice the scratches before but I could have easily missed them. Does anyone know what could be scratching the glass? Can I polish them out?

Same thing here. I was going to have the windows tinted but it would have made the scratches even more noticeable. Do a search on the topic. I know I've read a few posts on this very subject.

There are pads inside the doors called anti-rattle pads. These hold the windows in place and wear out. You can get all 4 to do both doors for around 20$ from any vendor or GM dealer. They are easy to install, taking about 1 hour. Most C4 owners have the same scratches. :yesnod:

Or you can just use soft velco with a sticky back and put them in with your fingers. Took me about 5 minutes per side. Couldn't tell you if they will handle summer heat, but so far they are sticking.

Usually the scratches are too deep to buff out. I have done it many times and trust me buffing glass sucks even when your a pro. I only buff when I can't catch the edge of the scratch whith my finger nail. You're better off replacing the glass after you fix the pads.
