I'm still looking for a wiper that will fit my 85. I bought a pair from Napa but the drivers side does not conform to the windshield when in the full extended position and chatters on the return sweep. However, parks well and clears the hood.
Anybody got a good brand and part number?
Thanks,
JW

I went through a few aftermarket sets myself, finding that none of them worked well. And, they were too tall, to the point where they wouldn't park under the cowl.

I ended up ordering OEM replacements from GMPartsdirect.com. Work like a champ.

I installed rain-x a couple of weeks ago and they fit perfectly. The previous ones did chatter but the new rainex run smooth on both drives.

I think Trico was the original supplier, that was what I used. They should fit and look original also.

I can't seem to find a way to unhook from the middle of the wiper arm. I keep tugging on it and the wiper blade won't come off. I know it should slide or come undone?????

The center of the arm is hinged. You have to insert a small slot screw driver on top of the spring, then press down, to release the arm.

Provided it's the same as mine?

I think I bought rainX for my 94'. All I did was remove my wiper...bring it into Advanced with me...and compared the height until I found one that was small enough. Good Luck

I always order from chevy parts and have good luck. I recently ordered the wrong part and it was my fault and they still took it back. Great customer service.

I have some ANCO blades on mine that work and fit just fine. I wish I had a part number and remembered where I got them, but I don't. They are the all rubber type of blade with no metal in them except for the center mount. I guess I got lucky the first try cause I never considered any of the problems I hear about with blades fitting under the end of the hood.
As for chattering against the glass, I cured that too. I cleaned my windshield and then clay barred it just like you do the paint. next I wiped it down with alcohol and a micro fiber towel. Then I put a coating of Rejex on it and when dry, I wiped it off. Bugs bounce off now and those that do 'splat' will wipe off with a Kleenex when dry. Rain flows off so fast that I rarely have to even use the wipers, but they glide silently and smoothly and wipe completely with usually a single stroke.

The fella I bought my 94 from was so proud of the one piece Rain-x blades he put on the car, be bragged about them three different times before I closed the deal and took possession. I guess I'd had it a couple of weeks before getting caught out in a light rain. That's when I noticed the driver's side wiper hanging on the back edge of the hood instead of parking. The Rain-x wipers accomodate both 1/4" and 3/16" wiper arm studs, and of course the PO had used the hole for the 1/4" stud. I was able to remove the wipers and file down the high spot on the blade until it cleared the hood nicely. Since the interference was on the 1/4" end, I didn't have to take any meat off above the 3/16" mounting hole, and therefore didn't weaken the connector any. The wiping action of the one piece blades is awesome, with no chatter, and they follow the contour of the windshield perfectly.

I've been buying/using the AC delco blades ever since my first wiper change when the Anco blades hit my hood...I learmed my lesson and stuck with GM blades since then.
