take a 1985 vette with a mini ram intake setup..knock off long tube headers..home made intake, and an off the shelf exhaust system what would the horse power to the wheels be?

Wild a** guess.....about 215 at the rear wheels. You don't mention changing the cam or heads. 85 stock iron heads suck. Stock at the block is 230. So I figured adding 15 for headers (85 really benefits from exhaust mods), another 5 for the exhaust and 10 for the intake (generous here). The heads and cam will be your downfall.

......... Not on a stock motor ............ you need more mods to take advantage of the mini ram and its HP potential .........

Not to be smart azz but In your Dreams. 85 is a big series of trade offs. Was outstanding for its time but is almost impossible to get significant power from a single mod.

The only way he could have 400 HP is if he added a bunch of Summit, Jegs, and other racing decals all over the car...oh...and painted the brake calipers red..

My guess at 260 from the 230 at the block was more than GENEROUS. And no, the miniram does NOT free up the 75 to 100 HP you indicated. The 85 heads just do not flow to support any where near those HP numbers. Think of the heads as the center of the hour glass....Big in (miniram)....small center (head) and large out (headers). HP Just is not going to happen...keep adding decals!
