The top of my 84 drivers side door panel is not properly staying hooked over the door frame. The door panel is seated all the way down against the door handle mounting plate, so I don't think it's improperly located, but I am wondering if folks have experimented with strengthening or reinforcing the top lip of the door panel, or am I doing something completely wrong.
(I've taken off and reinstalled both door panels multiple times, but have consistently had this problem with the drivers side)

this is somewhat of a common problem with early C4's (84-87). the factory had fix, but the kit has been long discontinued by GM. however, it's not rocket science, and the same fix could be done in a home workshop without much trouble. here's some info that was posted several months ago -
