Please excuse my lack of mechanical knowledge, but I have read on other threads about the chip. What is THE CHIP? What does it do? Where is it located? Is it something worth replacing?
The chip (EPROM) is located inside the ECM which is located above the brake master. The chip contains all the parameters for your engine to run properly...fuel tables, timing tables, etc.
You only NEED to change the chip if you've done work to the motor like injectors or cam or head work.
If it's stock...you might squeeze a few horsepower more, but that it.
As long as we have one going on chips, I have a question. When I purchased my 1995 standard coupe last November, it already had a G-Force Performance chip installed. Could some of your more veteran Corvette owners (I am a 1st timer, as this is my first Corvette) elaborate on the pros and cons of leaving the chip installed or removing it? Thanks in advance.

Your '95 does not use a chip like these guys are talking about.
If you have one of those "piggy-back" performance chips connected, it really isn't doing much of anything.
