Anyone out there in Vette world have any luck refinishing the front and rear bumpers? I can live with the so so paint on the rest of my 93 ruby red but the bumpers are just bad, yeah i know pictures, pictures. Thanks guys Dave
Do yourself the favaor and repaint your baby ! ! ! I did mine and it was such an amazing transformation. Color was left the same, but WOW it looks awesome (imho). Ask around, look around and you can find places that are small that do superior work, for not too much money. Mine was done for $3000. I checked at a specialty shop and the wanted $7000 and I cnat see any difference in the quality of the job. My guy even put int he new weatherstripping and window sweeps since he had to take the old stuff off anyway. I almost cried when I saw my baby in pieces, prior to painting. WELL WORTH IT ! !
Last year I had my front bumper repainted. The body shop insisted that the bumper be removed--"that's the only way to do it right"! They painted it and installed it back on the car and the match was perfect!! Torch red '96 LT4 . The downside was the price--$600! I'm very pleased with the work.
As stated for them to match the painter had to do a good job matching the paint and the rest of the paint needs to be in good condition otherwise it will be obvious from far away what has been repainted.
I think ill just wait and get the whole car painted. I tell all my neighbors the clear coat came off when i got her up past 100! Not sure if they believe me?
I have some peeling on my right front as well and the top of the rear bumper has the clear coat fading. I cannot simply have the front repainted since there are subtle flames on the hood that start in that area. I've been told to simply wait and repaint the whole car which is what I will do in the next year or so.
