I noticed a few of these for sale recently and I just wanted to say that deleting my muffs was an AWESOME idea!! The car sound so sick now, but the best part is that it is totally tolerable. When cruising, it mellows back down. During start up and when you step on it, it sounds like a beast!
Just FYI, and alternative to buying the elims is just chopping and putting a straight pipe in. You will need some shims, but my buddy did it for me from scratch and it wasn't too bad. Much much cheaper too.
Had them already on my '94 six speed when I bought it, so I dont know any different really ( my first Vette), if it loses power, torque, etc, I wouldnt know, still plenty quick enough for me! theres plenty of kids round town with their imprezza's and evo's that will testify to that...as for the drone, it depends how you "play the pedal"! it doesn't have to be irritating.
Definitely is... I come from the world of street bikes an I kno on them it's not good to run without mufflers u need that back pressure it can also damage ur valves... Guess that's not the case with corvettes... It was jus a question u don't have to go n get all crazy on me now!

Plenty of length from the engine to the rear of the car to have back pressure. I dud the muffler removal and did pipes and tips from the local Midas. Sounds and runs great.

While I haven't seen this damage valves, bike engines can lose power on teh top end without sufficient back pressure.

To be straight forward, I hated this decision at first. Drone in the cab losses me off in my AT. When the trans was in top gear and I lightly passed people, Windows down, it would have a DEEP drone. But, subconsciously, I learned to play the pedal. I don't even notice it now. Everyone that has been in it since love's it. Even my fiancee enjoys it...and she thought it was the dumbest idea ever at first. I WIN!!
What about the "resonator" behind the cats and before the mufflers, what is the advantages/dis advantages of getting rid of that too and any hp gains or losses? (95 LT1)

i ASSUME IT WOULD BE MUCH LOUDER! pROBABLY MORE (oops, caps was on)...probably more drone though. I doubt you get much HP, or at least enough to notice.
For what its worth, I had a guy come up to me a while ago who said " heard you giving it some stick down the road recently, it sounded like a Ferrari who's ***** had dropped!" I dont suppose he's heard to many Ferrari's but I kinda liked the analogy..

I was wondering the same thing.I have installed headers and i find it still a little to quite. How much does the resonator restrict the sound?....not worried about HP.

Dudes, 2 straight pipes and an H from Jegs and a friend with a welder. It will cost maybe $50 and a good time...and if you don't like it...put the Rez back in. It makes for a fun day in the garage with your buddy
Mines loud as hell and I'm still using the factory mufflers. I guess long tube headers, custom cam, increased compression, ported intake, ported heads etc, made it louder than stock. Slowly idling home in my neighbor hood my kids hear me well before I make it to the house. IMHO spend the money on engine parts if you want to sound badass.
Noise is the reason I still haven't install the 3" B and B stainless catback thats been sitting in my garage since 2006. In my experience loud attracts the attention of your local Gendarmes and its no fun being the center of Police attention. If I had my way my vette would be silent, invisible and undectable by radar, laser and thermal devices. Just my honest opinion, developed from more than three decades of large V-8 engined street machine ownership.
