Default Drop top parking

I've only had my vert for 3 days now and I've been leaving the top down when I park cause I'm too lazy to put it back up. :)

Do you guys park your car with the top down or the roof off at the supermarket or work? I've only done it when I'm only gonna be 15 minutes or less. If I'll be longer I put it up. Is it safe?

I usually don't have a problem leaving mine down when I'm at work or at a store...but I guess it depends on where you are. I've always felt whenever I had a vert that I'd rather have a thief get into it rather than cutting the top to get in. Either way, he's gonna get access... knowwhatImean???????

Yes and no. If you have anything inside, don't. The roof provides some security but won't stop a car thief. If you have a radar or aftermarket sterio and you leave it open, then you may have problems. As long as you think about it, you should be ok. I leave it open in my parking lot sometimes and sometimes at the local supermarket in a good neighborhood. Most other times though its closed.

if you lock the door with the door open, the security system is activated. if someone reaches in and unlocks the door from outside, then opens the door, the alarm will go off. (I only found this out when I accidentally set off my own alarm.)

The center console compartment and the glove box both have locks on them that lock with the door key. Make sure you lock both of them whenver you leave the top down. I have big aftermarket speakers, but they're hidden by the top when it's in the trunk, so I'm not too worried that someone will steal them and be smart enough to climb over the door rather than unlock and open it.

I did when I had my '70, but I don't want the sun ruining the leather seats in my '96...so I find that it is better to take the time and put the top up so protect the interior from the sun.
Now at home, it is not in the sun, and I leave it under the car cover with the top down.

I park my Camaro with the t-tops off all the time..

basically, if a thief wants something bad enough he'll just take it.. i do have to admit, though, that leaving it OPEN can 'attract' someone who otherwise would mind his own business (ie. someone looking for spare change or CDs)

later,
Colin

I put mine up. Hate to say it, but people are mean. I have heard of drinks being dumped in cars, and other things. Better safe than sorry.

I will leave it down if I can see it, or I wont be gone long. Otherwise it goes up and locked with the Club on the wheel. My top is in bad shape because the "other guy" left it down all the time. The top makers tell you to only put it down when you are cruising. Other than that it should be up to keep it from cracking at the bending points, etc.

Depends on long Im going to be and how high the sun is in the sky. With black seats it dosent take but a few minutes to get them hot enough to where you cant sit back down in the car.:)
