Even if this is not the problem, IF you have a stock HEI, buy a new one,

when I first got mine it would die for no reason, then start up, totally unexpected

If your fuel pressure is good while you're driving, my money is on the catalytic converter being clogged. It would be a little loud, but you can remove it and test drive it to see if that's the problem without spending any money.
You need to revisit pulling codes.

thanks to all for the help i let everyone know when pinpoint the problem or problems still open to any ideas , the corvette plant is about 80 miles away may see if they need a yarrd ornament

under side of car revealed straight pipes no muffler no cat . it just dose'nt seem like its getting gas it wont die just cuts out backfires like it has the hiccups idles some what i just restart it and it will run better for a few minutes until i mash the gas hard check engine light comes on the same story all over im gonna try a new fuel pump and sending unit cant hurt it set for 2 years

Yes, quit too soon. At 126,000 miles this car needs everything looked at and probably replaced. Hei distributor's are shot at 100,000 miles.

Maintenance records are crucial when buying a car.

quick question is there a way to bypass a egr i dont have to pass any emissions here

I am staying overnight in Franklin, Ky this Friday then spending most of Sat at the NCM. Heading back to Michigan later in the day. I could bring my scan tool and loan it to you if you pinky swear to mail it back to me. I also have a full set of test tools that will test all your sensors if you would like to borrow those too.

thanks alot but i will have to pass dont like borrowing tools never know what can happen , but thanks alot for the offer i got a scann tool that works like the paper clip , if there is a better one please let know all oriellys had was the cheap one i will get this figured out this tpi is new to me but im learning

Try unplugging the mass airflow sensor and then drive the car. This will tell you if any of those parts are bad. I think my 86 was doing the samething several years ago. I unplugged the Mass Airflow sensor and it ran fine. If this works for you replace the mass airflow sensor with a new one.

not yet i set the tps took the burn off modual out of it and laid it in the seat and figured out after it resets after turning the key off it will run fine check engine light stays off untill it acts up again its got a surging idle now so im thinking iac needs replacing i think im gonna try a new ecm and burn off box

New ECM didn't help its driving me nuts I will try to pull codes again see if this one will give off anything different

Still nothing but the hard faults check engine comes on it does run better after it comes now
