Is there a downside to reprogramming the ECM to have the fans come on at a lower temp. For $100 I can get the ECM reprogrammed or for $50 I can purchase the low temp fan kit. Pros & cons?
If you don't like the new operating temp of the engine you have to get the ECM reprogrammed again ( $$$ ) .
With the fan switch you can just put the old one back in
I would like to have the ECM reprogrammed, but I cannot find anyone local that can do it. Marc Haibeck says he would need my car to do it, and Scott Hansen says he does not do the 95's. Scott suggested the Tunercat. I have read where they are not very user friendly. Have not heard back from PCMforless yet. Would rather be able to do it local in case I wanted to make changes in the future.

with vetteoz....There isn't anything wrong with the fan kits. It's a simple enough change, I would think the kit would work just fine....Most people are very happy having there car running at a lower temperture, I know I am...........WW
Read this..They make 4 different kits, for 4 different tempertures..Since the high and low fan speed is controlled by the ecm, that should still function as normal....WW
The stock C4 Corvette cooling system runs inherently hot. GMP has the solution to this annoying problem. GMP offers a electric cooling fan switch, The switch will turn on the main fan, auxiliary fan or both at a lower temperature. Lower coolant tempeartures will maximize engine performance and reduce engine wear. Each kit comes complete with switch, harness, hardware and instruction sheet for easy installation. P/N 40290 & 40416 switches are recommended for stock applications. This switch (P/N 40416) turns your electric fan on at 195 degrees +/- 5 degrees and automatically turns it off at 180 +/- 5 degrees.
