I had a set of 255/50/16 on my '88. I later put the same wheels/tires on my '94.
They seemed to be a good tire for my driver. The sidewalls are pretty soft so steering response was not as precise, but they rode smoother.
They were pretty quiet and I got pretty good tire wear. I put about 25k on them and they looked like they could go at least another 10k, but I sold the car with them on it.
They worked fine in the rain. I ran it through the winter also. They were pretty decent in ice and light snow. I got caught in a heavy snow and I could hear the snow dragging across the bottom of the car, but I kept it moving and they pushed through ok.
In summary, they were a pretty good tire for me. They were not an all out performance tire, but they worked well on my daily driver.
What I have found with almost all of the lower priced tires is, they are fine for DD or just cruising.. As soon as you try to use them for any spirited driving you will find out why they were so cheap.. This is called, (You get what you pay for)... Im not saying cheaper tires aren't any good, Im just saying they have limitations......WW
Ive had 2 sets. OK, not great. Suck for drag racing. After trying Falken, Firestone and Sumitomos, 2 sets of each, I am back to BFG KDs last 2 sets. So for they do the job better than all the others. I will buy them again.
My 89 had a set on it when I got it. They were ok but (no joke) they would spin if you looked at them hard. Zero tration in first gear and all over the place on any spirited 1-2 upshift. Made the car kind of "fun" at first but it was also kind of dangerous for my wife to drive (infrequently but it does happen). I mounted up a set of used Dunlops I traded another Corvette guy some stuff for and now you have to really want to spin the tires i.e. full throttle upshifts/downshifts etc. Still won't hook if you punch it from a standstill but i can launch pretty good with a bit of throttle modulation, much harder than before.
To be fair, I don't know how old thos Kumho's were. I had simlilar ones on my old Formula FB and they seemed fine.
(FWIW...my car is a 70k mile 89 coupe with automatic, 3.07 gears and a few simple bolt-ons, nothing radical).
I have that brand on my RX-7 which is a nice weather work commuting car. Good for that and they've held up well, but as others have said not quite a performance tire if you want to attack a corner.

I loved my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S I had on my C5, best tires I've ever had in a high performance car. C5 gone now.
My truck has Falken Wild Peaks, that's the only time I've ever had Falkens, I will consider Falken car tires with a next Vette tire set. They are a good price point and not a huge loss if I hate them.
The tires determine how well it does all 3 of those things, so what is the point of cheap tires on a Corvette?
I understand if things are tight - we've all been there. But do yourself a favor and get 2 good tires now and 2 more in a month when you can afford them, or use a credit card. You never know when avoiding an accident or stopping 10 feet shorter will mean the difference in life or death - literally.
