I own a '94 with the updated interior. I Armor Alled the vynal parts of the interior but the flat pieces near the window switches and radio look horrible if coated with Armor All since they have a kinda flat finish. What do you use and what is the best way to protect these peices ??
I have never found a product that works on my black interior (I know exactly what you mean about the flat black around the radio!). I just use a clean, damp chamois to wipe everything down. It doesn't look as "shiny" as armor all but stays clean longer and doesn't attact the dust as bad.
Don't use Armor poopie...it doesn't allow the dash to breathe and it possibly may crack!! When I was a youngin' I used Armor stuff on my dashes of two sports cars..both developed cracks!
I mostly use a damp cloth too. When we had the '85's interior apart to redo the carpets, we used Simple Green to clean a lot of the grime and it worked awsome. Just don't use it on any of the pieces that have text or print on them, it will take that completely off.
I too have found water does miracles. When I first got my Vette the dash was Armoralled to hell, so I continued the process. I really didn't like the feel when I touched it and the way it was a dust magnet. I started just using a damp cloth and now it looks great, feels good, and doesn't suck up all the dust.
OK thanks ! Armorall is now in the 'round file'. I was wondering where the 94,000 tons of dirt was comming from that blankets my dashboard. Now I know. Stupid over the counter 'car care' products !
Armorall is the worst crap you could possibly put on your dash. Read this thread how to fix the problem you gave yourself and good luck. The manual says use only soap and water. I also use a non-silicon based interior cleaner with a UV ray protector as I have a black convertable and the sun hates it. https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=114&TopicID=2
I've become a true fan of a product called "Tuff Stuff." It's made by STP and seems to work on just about anything. Follow the simple directions, Presto!
NO dust magnet like ArmorAll. :yesnod:

plain water will take off the graphics and text off the console (at least on my '85). don't know what the hell they (gm, supplier, ???) was thinking by using, what amounts to, poster paint. my '85s console graphics are all but gone. anyone know if the paint used on the repro consoles is any better than the originals?
Those flat black areas that you are talking about can be tricky to work on. I do not feel comfortable in leaving those areas "undressed" as the sun is so unforgiving. To clean/dust I use a damp microfiber cloth. To dress those areas, I use a microfiber cloth and 303 Aerospace Protectant. Appy, allow to dry, and then buff lightly with a clean cloth. 303 contains UV40.
I use Lemon Pledge on the interior leather and plastic surfaces. Then, I like to skeet it all down with generous amounts of Formula 2000 by Turtle Wax. I like the way it enriches and enhances the plastic surfaces, repels dust and lasts a long time.
Don't use Armor-All poopie. That stuff'll contribute to cracking your dash and when combined with the oils in your fingers, will eventually eat the white lettering off your interior switchgear and buttons!

Re: Interior cleaning question (9T4YY1)
Well I know what yer talkin bout too.........I just use a damp cloth and a Chore-Boy™ scrub pad when wet just in case somethin dries hard on it for whatever reason. For th vonyl parts however I may seem odd in this case...........I used to Use Armor-All for just about evrything but for the dash I use the same thing I use on my tires and weathr stripping.........Black Magic™ Tire Wet. And YES you can use it on dashes.........read the back...for all of you thinkin I'm  Anyway if yer gonna use it for vinyl you have to wait a while for it to gelify and then wipe it smooth with a semi-damp cloth. Nothing beats the shine on a black surface. It's incredible.......my dash literally looks metallic when I'm done....then again so do the tires. :D

Actually Black Magic is more of a dust magnet than Armor-All can ever be, so I gotta keep wiping it down every now and then. But nothing beats the shine not even armor all. If you want a dash that's so shiny it reflects the sun like a metal surface........u use Black Magic. I jus love the shine so much I'm willing to lose the blood 4 it. After all sacrificing blood 4 beauty is the one sacrifice we all make as vette owners.
