Way back when I owned an 86 coupe my son got me an aftermarket alarm system for my birthday. It came with 2 remotes that would open and close the doors and pop the rear hatch.
I had recently installed new hatch struts and when I touched the hatch release it would actually startle people when it popped open so fast.
I bet you could find a place to install one for you (minus the alarm of course).

GM had the VKE1000 that could be fitted if you wanted to get that great GM feeling. Otherwise there are many aftermarket options. I thought about it but for now have not had a real need for it.
