Let me try to respond to everyone. (ragtop) Im in Fresno, just south of Houston and the car is with my folks in Beaumont, they are in the process of finding an engine to get started on the replacement. (bandit) My dad had it 1997- til he passed in 2007, my dads best friend had it in his garage from 2007-2011(was driven periodically), then I have put about 10k on it since. The last day I drove it was NFL wild card sunday. Mileage range gauge said I had 60 miles to empty, well I drove maybe a mile towards the gas station and it ran out of gas. I didnt push it I just pulled over and a friend brought me some gas(fresh 5 gallons of premium gas), then I drove it to the nearest station to fill up with the same. At that time it rode very rough and I noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust when I stopped at the pump. I filled up and drove it home, drove around a bit thinking I may burn off what was producing white smoke, but it continued to blow white smoke, heavy, at idle. I got it home in the garage and it never started again. Im thinking whatever happened between leaving the house and running out of gas. Did not look for fluids while driving, but when we pushed it out of the garage there was a fresh circle of oil on the concrete. There was oil inside the engine when checked during the diagnosis. Im confused as ever but if this is the most expensive repair/replacement I should be good after this(trying to find the good in this),,,
