I'm an original owner for my 84 vette! I truely take care of my vette with only 50K. However, I never changed my Diff oil. I know, I should know better!
I read too many articles of what to use as far as the oil/additives to use.
I'm looking for some info to make sure that I do the right thing and change my current oil with what will work best
50,000 miles isn't excessive on the service of your rear axle. But just to be sure, I'd change just for the peace of mind. Warm up the oil and suck out as much as you can of the old oil through the side inspection port. I used 80w90 synthetic but you can use a quality GL5 80w90 gear oil and make sure to get the limited slip additive. Fill to the bottom of the inspection port and you should be good for many miles.
Thanks for helping. That's good to know and will replace for peace of mind and get her ready to go back on the road in June. Can't wait!
Yes, I have a pnumatic oil vacuum tool and will get out has much as I can.
What do you recommend for the non-synthetic 80w 90 GL5 from a local autozone etc?
I was looking to get 2 quarts of non-synthetic valvoline 80w-90 GL5 and a 4oz bottle of AC DELCO #10-4003 LIMITED SLIP AXLE LUBRICANT online. I don't think AZ has the lubricant.
I'm looking to put in 1.3 quarts of the 80w-90 GL5 oil and 4oz of the lubricant. Is that correct?

Do you think this would be fine?
Thank you!

What would justify the "on-line" buy? It's right there I'd think in probably a couple "local" vendors. If your GM dealer still has some 1052358 on the shelf I'd prefer that over the ACD product.
