Default A decision needs tro be made, advice please.

I own a 1986 corvette with an auto trans. great for daily driving, and the more i drive it, the more I love it.
I just used it for collateral to start building my credit. I have always bought things cash. I did this so I can purchase a house next year.
Anyways, I like my HPDE Track days and I miss shifting gears.
My red 86 will have the interior finished and this will leave me between 5K to 5.5 K.
Do I do a conversion?
Or do I look for anther C4 with a manual transmission?
WWUD (what would you do)?

I would look for another vette with a stick if you really want a standard if it were me, but not the 4+3. It's not worth the money to spend on a C4 to convert it to a standard in my opinion!

Far cheaper to just sell your car and buy one with a manual trans. Just make sure the new one is in good working condition, they are very expensive to fix. The 90-91 6speed cars can be bought fairly cheaply and are a lot of fun.

Buy your house.....

Cars will come and go, but you will only own a few homes...
Keep what ya got, save your money, get your house.

Just because you are asking the question, its apparent that it's more of an investment than you realize.

Good luck!

Yes, it is a bit of an investment.
I had my car for sale until 3 weeks ago. I did not have one nibble.
so in preparation of what I am doing, I have looked and talked to sellers on this forum, couple of possibilities.
A newer C4 is $ 1,000.00 more than I can spend.
Going to a C5 was a thought, but it would leave me with nothing extra.
A conversion is basically $ 4,000.
My home now is under a land contract, so I am investing all ready on the down payment with monthly rent and repairs.
I appreciate the input from all.

Shine that puppy up real nice and make sure everything is working on it. Find a friend that lives on a busy street and park it there with a huge price amount painted with white shoe polish on the windshield.
It will sell this spring.

As some of you ay have seen in the For Sale section, I have decided to go for it while I can.
Keeping the red 86, and when the new arrival I decide on comes, I will finish the rest of the restoration on the 86.
The NA will be my "Tinker" for those days I need to hide in the garage while the wifey is on the war path and I don't have the parts for the 86.
