Often when cars are advertised on eBay, and the price seems TOO CHEAP, it's a scam. Next thing he/she will be wanting a "Wells-Fargo money order." If I'm not mistaken, eBay will confirm, if you ask, if this is legitimate, and if not will pull it.

I sent him a message and asked for engine pics, he ignored it. I sent a second one, asking to explain the rear Z 51 and L 98 badge. Ignored again.

I sent a note to ebay that this is an uncooperative seller, and the car may not be what he is representing it as. We ll see where this goes. Car has 136,000 miles ?? And some fools have bid it up to 6k. .?? But I'm selling for a friend?

Seen this type of thing on CL too, a car that looks great and is waaay under priced, you send an email next thing you know you are getting some crazy story about them being in the military and can only accept pay pal and the friend will be there to show the car.

SCAM !

Yep, the 5th digit has to be a letter "Z" and the 8th digit has to be a "J".

The last 6 digits will start with an "8" to identify the special production sequence numbers. In 1990 the sequence numbers ran from 800001 thru 803049.

So this fleabay seller is all wrong.

Yes...if it were a ZR-1. However in this case, the VIN agrees with the bumper badge: L98!

Got a reply

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A 1990 Z 51 L-98 Ebay will not let me correct the listing
However, the Z51 option is a performance package.
Included in it are: Stiffer springs and swaybars, wider tires, larger rotors and both a power steering
and engine oil cooler.
On the manual, there is also different gearing in the transmission for better low-end and a trans cooler.

Still appears he is getting confused with the cut and paste
Manuals only ever came with one gear set

Yea he "corrected it" but it way down the bottom of the listing.
Ebay should make Him pull it and rewrite correctly with out all the bs

This was no accidental listing, up here we call it fraud. I'm sure the local DA would love the pay a visit.

I'm sure we all agree it's not a ZR-1. Closing this one down.
