Default new engine aka rebuilt engine

My mechanics shop, where I am having my 85 corvette engine swapped, ask me if I wanted to have my engine painted. It already has a grey/gray paint coating on it ..I was thinking of having the block painted fire engine RED so that it would be a good contrast to the belts, hoses, valve (chrome) covers ...What is your take on this looking for feedback
thanks Mike aka nhlighthouse

I prefer the stock GM satin black, but its you car. Anything would be better than battleship gray.

Once it's in place you'll hardly see any of the color - but as it gets dirty it will look terrible - I think that's why GM painted the engines black to start with.

So high heat resistance engine orange will still get dirty? why can't you take it to the car wash and use the engine degreaser on it/Problem solved?

yes, you can take it to the car wash. But you should think about the fact that these engines have more electronics on them than the older engines and don't like water. You would be getter to use a simple green and lots of rags. There is not much of the actual block exposed once it is in the car. Black doesn't show the dirt.
