I am looking at a 95 yellow corvette, absolutely beautiful. The only problem is that it has a rebuilt title. The car had been stolen and the thiefs drove it out of state and then parked it and stole the front bumper and left rear wheel. I saw the pictures of the car after it had been stolen and there was no visible damage. The guy is asking $13,900 for it and it has 62,000 miles on it. List price is over 20,000 but of course with a clear title. Should I walk away or buy it. Please let me know what you guys think.
First, $20K for a 95 coupe is way too much. Secondl, a rebuilt title, like Patrick said, he is gonna be a PITA if you ever try to sell the car.
...is gonna be a PITA if you ever try to sell the car.
May not be as bad as you think. I bought a car (not the Vette) with a salvage title in Kansas, and when I transferred the title into my name in my home state, it came back clear.
Well, I bought it today and I took a couple pictures of it if anyone will post them for me that would be great. Im glad I bought it. I have 2 vettes now :)
Im from Texas but Im in Kentucky working and in Kentucky they have a weird law where just about any car that has any kind of damage work done to it gets branded with a salvaged title. But hopefully when I transfer it over to Texas it will come off?
Usually a savage title will follow the car.
A theft recovery is no big deal. I would buy a theft recovery.
Just document the damage and present it when you sell it should be no problem.
Good buy, good choice, 95's are nice cars, yellow rips.
Wheres the photos, and welcome to the C-4 forum.
I've owned 4 C-3's great cars, but C-4's are better in thier own way.
None of my C-3's ever leaked whats up with that?
Well there's a Competition Yellow coupe down in Austin for sale. It's $17,500 after I negotiated, and I had to decide between that one or the red one that I bought. It's beautiful and has a custom stereo. I can hook you up with more info, email me at holdthemustard@hotmail.com
It has 68K miles with immaculate interior. Read my post called "Which of these three is the best to buy (updated)?". It has all the info. I can give you a number and stuff to call.
As for the one you're looking at now, keep in mind that the car will never sell very well when it comes time to resell it. You will never make money off of your purchase, but if that's not a concern to you and the car is nice, then go for it. Remember that the title will always say that it has been stolen and recovered, even 30 years from now. Potential buyer 30 years for now will be asking the same question you are.
don't worry if its just got a rebuilt title because it was stolen.
around here cars that go missing for over a period of a few months get branded as salvaged. mine is one of those vehicles i have yet to contact my insurance company to give me a letter stating that the car was salvaged because it was stolen and missing for way too long. then i'll have no problem selling it and being paid what the cars worth.

Re: What do you think?-PLEASE HELP (joe-red78)
I would buy it, Do you plan on keeping it if it is a good ride? If you feel that you will keep the car for a long time - if there are no problems with it - BUY IT.
