What will work to block sun other than solid top?
(stick on sheets will not bind to acrylic ...$30 lesson)
My acrylic sunshield static cling went on first try and has stayed put for over a year and a half.
The trick is to water wet the top and the static cling shield with a spray bottle and then use a squeegee to get the water out. Basically the same way that you install window tint. This will give you the chance to locate it correctly and eliminate all the bubbles for perfect adherence.
Other than that, you could cut off a cardboard mock up of the inside section of the roof to make a template, get a flat headliner from a bigger roof car so that you can cut off the portion that you need, and then recover it with fabric of your choice or use headliner material from JoAnn's Fabrics. I made one just like that for a friend and it came out much better than the stock one we replaced and broken. Used some industrial grade velcro from home depot and it still looks great after 4 years.
I bought a custom sized panel that slipped into place fine, can't remember where I got it but it was one of the major Vette catalogs. I think it was under $50.
Have you talked to a tint shop to see if they can install tint film to cut down on the light? Most tint shops also have mirrored tint and that may help to reflect the sunlight and help to reduce interior temps.

I have one too....like THIS, but meant for the clear top.
I can't for the life of me, figure out how to get the thing to work (stay UP in the top).

Huh. Maybe mine is missing parts? It's just the panel. At first, I thought you were supposed to tuck the plastic backing between the clear panel and the glue that bonds it to the frame, then push it so it "snaps" concave, up against the roof. It will DO that...but it won't stay. I hit a bump it it "pops" back down on to me.
