looking great! why did you remove the quarter panels? were they cracked? looks like the car was maroon originally. crazy that it was blue and then black!
I removed the panels because the car had a back crash and the frame behind the back wheels is not straight. In germany the original color named dark red metalic.
Great pictures - keep sharing them. Prices for C4's over here are so low it would be hard to justify putting that much work into one just yet - maybe one day....but not yet.
In Germany the prices for C4 are growing, but i build it only for me. I dont want to sell it.
For my opinion, the early C4 is the best looking Corvette.

For a good L98 C4 you hav to pay 12K.

If you want to see what "dark red metalic" looks like, go to my garage. There are several pics of my car in that color. Good luck!
I wish I could get 12 for mine. The cool thing for you is that you can do all of that yourself. I bet it will look great when finished. Good luck and hope to see some pics when its completed.

Oh I understand. There was a guy in Finland I think that restored a 1961 Chevrolet Impala Sport Roof (bubble top) and installed a BMW V12 engine in it along with the dashboard. Very custom. It was beautiful. It toured the car show circuit here in the US a few years ago.
WOW this pisses me off to no end being a body guy myself who ever prepped that thing before the last few paint jobs should be shot. I am not blaming you but you know when you can just use a scarper to peal paint off you know it was a garage hack paint job. I glad to see you are going down to the bear fiberglass and the SMC panels that is the only way to do the job right. I should be tackling my 85 this summer some time also good luck with your project and remember when you do the job the right way and not half *** you will appreciate the job more when you are done. Have you come up with a color choice for the paint job yet??????? If you need any body work advice hit me up whenever you want.

Wow! Kudos to you for the amount of effort you have put into this car. I think I am pretty ambitious, but I am not even close to your level. Good luck and keep us all posted with pictures of your progress...

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
