Default Looking at a 91 - Need Advice

Looking at a 91 locally and I need some guidance as to whether you all would go for it or not...

Car is Steel Blue/Blue and looks to be a 1SB optioned car. It's an automatic WITH the G92 rear. Car has 96k and the Carfax comes up clean. The current owner has put about 50k miles on it in the last three years driving back and forth to Miami.

He's asking $5,200

The Good:
The paint is 7.5/10 (front and rear clip have a quality respray job)
New brakes
New Alternator
New BFG Tires
A/C blows ice cold
Leather in 7/10 condition
It's a Corvette

The Bad:
Antenna is gone
Radio is a POS
Floor pan damage on pass. side (see here - click)
Rims are curbed pretty bad
Sawblades point all different ways (more to show lack of C4 knowledge)
Weatherstripping is old. Doesn't leak (yet), but old
D/S lumbar is ripped
P/S headlight motor gears are stripped
Door locks don't work
Car was a DD for the last three years
Car stays parked outside under an awning

In a test drive the car drove solid and was straight and true. I have no concern about the reliability of the drivetrain right now.

Necessary pics:

Yes, those exhaust tips are disgusting...

So would ya? I offered $4,200 and think I made him mad.

At $4200 it would probably be a pretty good deal for you. Sounds like you know how to do your own wrenching so you shouldn't get burned by a bunch of repair shop bills. But do take a sawzall to those exhaust tips.

I bought some Viagra exhaust tips, and they came with a car attached.

Who cares if you made him mad? You started low...its called negotiating. Tell him it will run you a G-note to get everything taken care of. (He doesn't have to know you do your own wrenching.)
If it doesn't work out, there will always be another one.

Also, many of the issues you stated don't seem too difficult to tackle. It would be great to get it for under $5k. As I have posted on another thread, that same car in Ohio would run about $7,000. Market seems to be everything.

Depends on how much work your willing to do. Back wheels are on the wrong side.

I'm willing to do some work.

And the driver's front and passenger rear are switched. Problem is the tires are directional so they need to be remounted.

I bought its twin about 3 years ago in North Carolina and think I paid $5,300. Had all the same problems except the front and rear clips had not been repainted.
Fixed all the above problems easily. Buffed the paint out and it looks pretty good. Put on a new steering wheel cover, C5 rims and tires, had an upholstery shop redo the driver's seat. I bought a radio here on the forum to replace the one in the car that had a stuck CD (sold the old radio here too). Cleaned up the engine and did all the required maintenance and then added new injectors and aftermarket intake. I purchased a mixture of used and new exhaust parts.
I plan to do my own repaint this summer (if I ever recover from my flooded basement disaster in April/May).
Love the car and I think it looks nice. You won't see too many of them at your next Corvette show either. I probably have about $7,000 into it now.

Ron I was hoping you'd reply. I was looking at your 91 back when it was for sale (too bad you didn't get that NC tag) but didn't have the $$$.

Your car is beautiful. Hopefully this one will be worthy enough to be your twin one day. We'll see.

Everyone has their opinion, but the issues you listed for the most part are easy and relatively inexpensive fixes. Weatherstripping is going to be your biggest expense. If you can get it for $5K or under I would definitely go for it. I love the color! Hate the exhaust! Hack those suckers off asap!

$5K Would not be to bad (not a steal) as it looks like you will have a few more grand in it by the time its sorted out, with wheels int and other miscellaneous odds and ends.
