Creaking while jacking up C4
While doing an inspection of the fluids in the car, I noticed the brake fluid was a dark brown color, and I figured I'd do a brake bleed. I am new to DIY auto repair, and am excited to give this a shot (with some help).
I've read a fair amount on how people jack up their C4s, and I figured I'd try the factory recommended locations first - meaning under the rocker panels as indicated next to each door. When I did this, there was a lot of creaking. I know it is an old car (1991), but I have also read that these C4s can flex, and it got me a little worried. Should I be worried?
I have a low-profile jack from HFT that can fit under the front lip, but it isn't long enough to reach the front cross member. Should I just buy ramps and then use the jack?
As for raising the rear, I was going to purchase the Corvette GadgetMan's attachment. I've also come across a 4Guru Tech Tip guide that tells me where I can place jack stands once I lift it up.
I was wondering if you guys had any tips ...
