You have another problem than the exhaust I think. I have the exhaust eliminators on my 84 and My 96. No problems. the 84 been on for 10 years and the 96 1 yr. Check some where else. Maybe ignition did you do anything else to the car ??
Got me if that was all you did may have touched the sensor on the exhaust while under there.Sounds like could be starving for fuel. While back there may have touched the fuel line. Just a thought??
It sounds like you fubared your O2 sensor or there is a bad connection. Did you mess with them at all. When cold your car runs of a table. When hot it is in closed loop and runs of the sensors.
Sorry high jack here, how does the exhaust sound, any droning.
Check your fuel presure, also regulator. Do not have any exp with the optispark yet. Good luck.
Mine sounds great. Get a little poping when I let off. Inside is not bad from the ouside taking off awsome At highway speeds 60 70 in 6th gear NICE running about 1200 RPMs

This would be my first guess as well. Although, I would think you would get a code, but hard to say. You also have some ground wires in that area as well. Also, when you say "cat back", I am assuming the cats are still there.
First get under there and make sure all your O2 sensor connectors are plugged in tight, and make sure the braided ground from the frame to the bellhousing is undamaged.
