Default Got some problems....

So I've got this 92 Vette. And I've been having some problems lately and I have no clue where to start. So I was driving today and I hit 255 degrees, I've never seen it get that hot but I was kicking back alot and after awhile it just started Reving down and it wouldn't go over 3000 rpms. What the hell?

MIL light come on? if so check it for codes, it most likely defaulted to limp home mode. Did both fans come on? Have you cleaned out the radiator? may be full of leafs and junk. Thermostat may be stuck.

No lights came on, I don't know about the fans and I've never even looked at the radiator, where is the thermostat located?

Also the oil pressure fluctuates when idling.

Thermostat housing /waterneck is attached to the waterpump directly below the air intake snorkel.

Walk around to the passenger/front tire under the hood. There at the upper right end of the radator is a slight peek hole looking into the radiator/trans cooler. If there is clutter build-up, the upper cover needs to be removed.

Has two elec. fans 1 should come on at around 225 the second around 235, You can also turn on the AC if I'm not mistaken the 2nd fan should come on.

You may have a miss, plug/wire but I would think the check engine light would come on.

Describe the "oil pressure fluctuations": does it bounce around rapidly, what are the usual limits of bounce??

Here is a tip. If your car is running hot, you can run the heater. This allows for additional cooling. I do this when I come off the track, to help dissipate heat. Works great in slow moving traffic also.
