Currently in the waiting room watching them put on my new Continental extreme DW tires and of course they put the saw blades on the car in the wrong direction.. I told them they were labeled. Looking forward to running on new tires instead of the 12 year old ones I bought the car with last year.
Well, it is raining here. So, I didn't try to test the handling. I did some driving though and the difference in ride is considerable. The bumps used to feel like an earthquake, now it's almost like I had a new suspension put on. The tread pattern on the tires looks really cool too. I can't wait til it is dry out to see how they handle.

I need new shoes for my 88 as well. My tires are almost 12 yrs old with @20k miles on them....time to pull the trigger. When I got my car in 2001 it had the original gatorbacks..put new tires on and just like you it felt like a new car. Looking forward to getting them! My 08 Impala SS needs new tires as well. Time to do some credit card bending! Let me know what you think of those tires. I'm wondering what to get. Thanks!

Same tires I have on my 96 vert. I am pleased with them, too. Not bad in rain either. I got caught out a few times and no drama.

That's was part of the reason I bought the tires. After reading several reviews, the Continentals were supposed to be some of the best in wet weather. 90% of the time I take the car out the forecast will say sunny, and I get down the road, and it rains. If I want a sunny weekend, I just need to leave the vette in the garage.
I bought them on TireRack and actually got them put on at the NTB on Route 1 in Lawrence. They patched a flat for me (on my non vette dd) a few weeks ago and didn't charge me, so I returned the favor and gave them the business. As I mentioned, the ride is much better than before, and the shaking that usually happened between 65 and 70 is now gone. It took them about an hour and half to do and everything went smoothly (except the reversed saw blades at first). There are no new scratches or bent anything, I was a little apprehensive so I had taken pictures of the underneath of the car beforehand. The young guys that work there did a good job imho fwiw.
I also just had the Continental Extreme DW's installed at the Indiana TireRack two weeks ago. I had runflats with very stiff sidewalls and the difference is amazing. You missed a chance to really see them in action when driving in the rain. My runflats only had 7,000 miles on them but I think these do better in the rain then they did dry. It was sunny when I left to get them and rained there and back then sunshine once home. I gave them a good test and they passed. The ride is very pleasing. The price amazing!!
I had a hunch you had them done there by your home city. Even though there are a lot of tire places I just had a feeling. I had my '86s Falken Ziex mounted there. I let them know that I was very nervous about wheel damage and they put one of their more senior guys on it. He was very careful and did a great job, no marks or damage of any kind. I was quite pleased.
My friend has Continental EC DW's on his M3 and they stuck like glue in the rain at autocross last weekend, they seem like a great tire. I just purchased two new Sumitomo HTR III's, hard to beat a price of only $118 per tire.

I wonder how many times a tire shop has put the sawblades on wrong? Maybe that is why they stopped making them.

I LOL'ed at the comment about waiting till it was dry to test the handling.
The Continental Extreme Contract DW is currently THE rain tire of choice for a TON of SCCA Solo II (aka. Auto-x) competitors. These tires flat get it in the rain, lots of grip.
