I just purchased a LOW miles 1990 C4. 15,600 on the clock.
I started it up yesterday and the airbag warning light was on. The was also a noise coming from the engine bay. IT sounded like a some kind of pump cycling. It did this on and off until I turned off the car. It was kinda like the the AC when it cycles but louder. The AC was not on.
I restarted and the issue was gone. I have not started it since but I am wonder what this may have been if it happens again.
Difficult to say at this point. 15K on a 23 year old car tells me it wasn't driven much, and probably not run all that much. So these could be just the "moans and groans" of being woken from a deep slumber. The thing to keep in mind about very low mile cars. While the hard parts, and the friction parts are probably pristine, the soft parts and the lubricants still age.
Yep. I hear you. Every fluid is getting drained and replaced on Monday. The AC blows ice cold so that was good to see. Especially since it was in the 90s here yesterday.
Will not be driving it much this weekend. No plates. I am waiting for the classic plate to arrive....no emissions....:-)
Wow. Quasar Blue. You made me go get my black book and look up the color for 90. I didn't know Quasar Blue was offered in 90. I had never seen one. 474 Quasar Blue in 90. Very low take rate. Nice find.
I know. I even have a 1990 Model year brochure, the color is not even mentioned. I even have the original window sticker with the paint code so I know it was not painted.
