Default Problem connecting Battery Disconnect Switch

Hey Gang,
I bought a side post, red top Optima battery to put in my '94. I had one in my '95 a few yrs. ago, and had no problems other than having to trim the tray. I had a battery disconnect switch on the '95, and there were no installation problems. Everything worked like a charm.

On my '94, the problem I'm having is I can't screw the negative battery bolt into the threaded hole on the disconnect switch. I can get a few turns in but no where close enough to have contact. I understand you can use washers between the negative bolt and the switch. Some say to use copper, others say it doesn't matter.

Any suggestions or does anyone know the cure?

Thanks,
Breezie

If its the same switch as mine, it has one threaded side that should be used on the cable side. The non threaded side of the switch should be at the battery.

Yes, mine is like yours. The threads don't match up on mine. I'm thinking about removing the bolt and finding one that matches the threads on the switch.

Not sure i follow then, there should be no threads on the battery side of your switch

I found out the threads on the switch were not manufactured correctly. I've ordered another switch. Thanks for the help. Breezie
