Late 86 would be good. Aluminum 128 heads, similar roof panel, C68 and antilock stuff should be the same. Dont know a lot about the 88. I think the suspension, brakes and roof changed in 88.

It depends on what you need from a parts car.
88 has the "roller-cam motor". (same as 87), but all of the suspension is different.
I believe the interior is the same from 84-89.
Most everything on the 86 will bolt right up.
Is either one a manual car? If so, go for it since the rear is the HD Dana44.
88 wheel offset is different, but they will fit. (perfectly if you use 1" adapters)

I have the engine. Need a lot of other small things. Mostly roof & interior & headlights

The windshield mounting brackets for the targa top changed mid-year in 1986. Make sure a top that you find matches the 87 setup.
