Default Hood Scoop

Hey guys, as we all know, if you put a carb on a C4, you will probably have clearance problems. Well, it would be cheaper to put a scoop on the hood, than to buy another hood. Would this scoop look good on an early C4 hood? Also, what kind of air filter would you use?

There is also the cowl clip add on.

If anyone has experience or pics of these, please let me know. Thanks!

Ive seen a couple of carbs under stock hoods. I think the scoops are more for track cars than street cars. You will spwnd some time and money attaching and blending the seams. they have 6" air cleaners and low proile ones.

IMHO I don't think that scoop will blend in very well with the lines of the hood.

Thanks for the replies. I would much rather a cowl hood myself. Where can i get a clip to match my hood?

The Pro hoodscoop would look good if you have a back-halved car with killer drivetrain. The cowl hood would look better if the car is relatively stock.
Just my opinion and I could be wrong. :D

Eric,
Edelbrock states that RPM manifolds dont fit under the stock Corvette hood. So yours fits? Maybe its because you have an 84 hood, or maybe its the holly? I am checking my options. Maybe carb, maybe FI. I was looking at your setup and it looks great! I am glad you got it going. Pass me an email sometime dude.

Powered,
Nice scoop! How exactly did you make it? Do you have anymore pics?

How about you stick a nice blower on top of that engine, then you can have a very good reason to have the large scoop on there...

yeah i do have a 84 hood. that might be why it fits? my carb is a holly 750 with removed airhorn. it is definetly a tight fit but it fits! :D good luck!

the air horn is the choke on the carb. it has a butterfly valve. we had to take the carb apart & mill it off. it sucks when its not warmed up but after a few minutes you are ok.by removeing the airhorn you can install a drop base air cleaner no problem. i also heard you get more cfm's! so you are thinking about axing the crossfire. believe me you will not be dissappointed. if you have any questions let me know. ill be glad 2 help.
