Default Hypertech?

When i bought my 95 about a year ago it came with a Hypertech programmer.Dont beat me up to bad on this I'm more into bikes but is this a good thing? Do a lot of people use this? I guess I'm asking for some schooling on it.

I would wonder if the PO used the device on the car to change some parameters. That would render it unuseable on another vehicle.

BTW my 96 CE came with one also. The rear had been changed to a 3.70 and the Hypertech was used to correct the speedo.

I beginning to think a few other changes were made but don't know if connecting the device will show me the current values. Plus I don't want to screw up something. Never used one before.

Hypertec makes good programmers in general. Their chip in my 89 made a world of difference. They reprogram the ignition, fuel curves and auto transmission for better response. It's a reversible process, so if you don't like it you can take it out.

Good for gear changes and turning the fans on sooner, Performance gains? Not so much. I see you have Harleys. Running their program, would be like the Power Commander tune on 103" F.I bike without the exhaust and aircleaner upgrade. Not much there.
