I Have a 92 vette with a Right power seat problem as the gears stripped and wont go foreward or back. How difficult is it to rebuild the gear box if at all possible

You're sure about the "stripped" comment? The cable is fine?

There was a place that rebuilt the darn things.
They are not rebuildible by a normal shop.
I can't remember why - a search may turn up better info - try the tech section.

Where are you? I may have an option for you.

There is a rather large nylon piece inside the gear area that actually loads the gears into mesh. Just like most nylon parts (headlight motors?) the nylon becomes brittle and breaks. There is no one selling the part. The one or two vendors that rebuild the motors won't sell the part. Either getting a new motor or having them rebuild it is your only options.

Pull the seat cushion out to observe the the motors and drive cables. If that piece of plastic is destroyed you can pull the cable away from the motor or transfer box/drive gears

Not a good job for duct tape, so I used a combination of tie wraps to hold the cable housing in touch with the drive motor. It works just fine.
