New Member Saying Hello
Wanted to say hello. Haven't been around a Corvette since I sold my 1965 Marlboro Maroon 396 30 years ago. :-(
Recently, I have been looking at C4's- they seem to be a great value for the technology and capability of the car. I came here to learn a bit about them before I buy the first one that comes along. I'll research the forum in order to take advantage of the collective wisdom here, but if anyone wants to jump in with some top issues to be aware of, that would be very welcome! I've got an '86 and an '88 to look at this weekend.
Thanks!

Welcome! I personally think that the C4 is easily the best sports car for the price point. I have no regrets! Good luck with your search. Most will tell you to look at a lot of them. Buy the nicest one that you can afford verses buying junk and trying to make it right, no matter how good the deal sounds!
Headlights that don't go up or down or do so slowly is an easy and cheap to fix. $15
Antenna doesn't go up or down is usually easy and cheap to fix $40
Loose door panels are easy and cheap to fix.
Make sure the steering column isn't broken from people using the steering wheel to get in and out.
Oh, and buy a 6 speed if you can! More fun!!!! jk.

If it was correct color, 65 was Milano Maroon. Marlboro Maroon was only in 67. I have a 65 Milano Maroon now and I recently bought a 94 Polo Green convertible. It is probably the best value car for the money I've ever bought in a Corvette. 6sp, all the luxury items and drives great. Welcome, I hope you find the C4 you want.

65 vert here. Black with a white interior, 4-speed, 300 hp. Bought used in 1966 and had it until I got levied to Vietnam in 1968. Took me many years to get another Corvette.
My advice is to find someone in your area who has owned a C4 and have them look at prospects with or for you.
Don't be afraid of the "fly and drive". I have done this with 3 different C4s and had a blast on the drive home. I had each road tested by Forum members before I made the commitment.
Go to the appropriate part of the Events and Regional section here to find someone. I always pay them a fee for their time.

Thanks for the welcomes and the good advice! I too have done the "fly and drive" picking up a Mercedes SL in Miami and driving back to CT- It was a great trip.
My '65 was repainted in the '70's. 396 4 speed, black interior, black top. Sold it for peanuts to buy an '82 928. I have hung my head in shame ever since!
