Early C4 Engine ID
My 84 and newer early C4 had the words Crossfire Injection or Tuned port injection on the side moldings. My 84 has the indent of the letters but they are not white. When new was those words painted on or decal inserts?

the words were painted. there has been debate as to the original color of the said paint. i believe that it may have been grey or silver. i could be wrong but i do know fore sure that it was painted in the lettered indentation on the rub strip originally
